Prefer an ASIO device. Backstage says so at the point of choosing: an ASIO device gives reliable, low-latency output, which is what audio locked to video needs.

An ASIO driver's own properties dialog opens on the host desktop, not inside Backstage. Over a remote session it will appear to do nothing — minimise the interface on the local machine, or go to the host desktop, to reach it. Close it there before returning.

Audio device settings apply on Apply. A ⚠ marker shows while changes are pending; Revert discards them.
