Inspector
The Inspector shows the properties of whatever is currently selected. It has no content of its own — the window you last selected something in decides what appears, so the same panel edits a surface, an output, an asset or a sequencer event depending on where you are working.

Nothing selected means an empty Inspector. It is not a window you open and browse — it is where the settings of the current selection appear.
Sections for a scene object
Which sections appear depends on the kind of object selected. A surface used as a display carries the display-only sections as well.

The second Inspector
The Inspector Window is an independent copy that does not follow the focus. A dropdown at its top pins it to one source:

The choice is saved per user, so the window comes back pinned to the same source. Use it to keep one thing visible — an output's settings, say — while working on something else in the main Inspector.
Selecting an object in the pinned source still updates that window, so it tracks the selection within its source; what it does not do is jump to a different kind of object when you click elsewhere.
Common Mistakes

The Inspector looks empty — nothing is selected, or the selection was made in a window the Inspector does not serve. Select an item in Scene Objects, Assets, Outputs or the Sequencer.

Edits go to the wrong object — the Inspector follows the last selection, and clicking in another window moves it. When two objects have to be compared or edited together, pin one in the second Inspector.

A section is missing — sections are per object type. Calibration Markers exist only on screen surfaces, LED Simulation only on display surfaces, Masking only on viewports.
