Dome

Last updated 7 August 2026

A section of a sphere — the shape of a planetarium or fulldome screen. The two border angles decide how much of the sphere the dome covers.

Description

Diameter

Of the sphere the dome is cut from, in metres.

Upper Border Angle

Where the dome stops at the top, in degrees.

Lower Border Angle

Where it starts at the bottom, in degrees. Together the two angles set the vertical extent — a full hemisphere is one particular pair, not the only option.

Tessellation

Subdivisions across the dome.

Changing a tessellation value regenerates the whole surface, and any mesh editing already applied to it is lost. Set the resolution before editing vertices, not after.

Name, Id, Lock Parameters, Transformation, Edit Mesh and the rest are the same on every surface — see Surface Default Properties.
