Dummy Output

Last updated 7 August 2026

Renders at a chosen size without going to any physical connector — for building and checking a show on a machine that does not have the real outputs attached.

Properties

Field

Description

Width / Height

Resolution to render at. Match the real output so that warping, blending and mapping behave as they will on site.

Bit Depth

Colour depth to render at.

A dummy output is a real render. It costs the same GPU work as the physical output it stands in for, so a project that runs on dummies will not necessarily gain headroom when they are replaced by real ones.

Enable, resolution, colour, warping and the rest are the same on every visual output — see Visual Output Default Properties.
