Why do i hear no audio output?
Audio in Backstage requires three things to be set up correctly: an Audio Output, an Audio Mixer, and a routed Audio Channel in your Sequence. If any one of these is missing or misconfigured, you will hear nothing.
Work through this checklist from top to bottom.
Checklist
1. Is an Audio Output configured?
Open the Outputs window. You should see at least one Audio Output. If not, add one and assign it to the correct audio device.
Adding an Audio Output automatically creates a default 1:1 Audio Mixer connected to it.
2. Is your Audio Channel targeting the right mixer?
Open the Sequencer window and select your Sequence. Check the Audio Channel — its target should be set to your Audio Mixer (not "none").
3. Is the audio asset on the Audio Channel?
Confirm there is an audio asset placed on the Audio Channel track at the current playback position.
4. Is the Audio Routing correct?
Open the Audio Routing window. Your audio stream should be connected to the mixer, and the mixer should be connected to the Audio Output. If the routing is missing, connect them manually.
5. Is the volume set to zero?
Check the Audio Mixer — its channel faders and master level may have been set to 0. Raise them to 100%.
6. Is the correct audio device selected?
In the Outputs window, click your Audio Output and verify the device matches the physical output you expect sound from (e.g. the correct ASIO or Windows audio device).
