Audio Mixer

Mixes audio between sources and outputs. The window reports what the mixer is, and configures ambisonic decoding where the mixer is ambisonic.

Description

Name / Id

Name and numeric id of the mixer.

Inputs / Outputs

How many channels come in and go out.

Sample Rate

The rate the mixer runs at, or Not set.

Ambisonic

Present when the mixer is ambisonic — a format that stores a whole sound field and decodes it to whatever speaker layout is present, rather than storing one channel per speaker.

How finely the sound field is resolved. Higher orders localise better and need more channels.

How the field is decoded to the speaker layout.

Normalization

The normalisation convention the material uses.

Channel ordering

The channel order convention.

Ambisonic encoder

How sources are encoded into the field.

Encoder post-processing scaling

Scaling applied after encoding.

Normalization and channel ordering are conventions, and material does not always say which it uses. Getting either wrong produces a field that decodes to plausible but wrongly-placed sound — it will not sound broken, it will sound misplaced.
