Output View
It is the quickest way to see what each output is actually sending — useful when the projectors are elsewhere, or when checking that content landed on the output you expected.
This window costs real GPU time: every routed output is rendered twice while it is open — once for the output itself, once for the preview. Close it during a show, and when judging performance.
Preview resolution
Each preview is rendered at the size the window gives it, keeping the output's aspect ratio, and never above the output's own resolution. Making the window smaller therefore lowers the cost; making it larger raises it, up to the real output size.
Because the preview is scaled down, it shows framing, routing and content — not pixel-level detail. Judge sharpness, banding or blend seams on the real output.
Identifying a tile
Hovering a preview draws a label on the tile itself — the output's name followed by its resolution and refresh rate, such as Front Left [1920x1080@60Hz]. It stays on the tile rather than following the pointer, so it remains readable while you move the mouse.
The label shortens as tiles get smaller: first it drops the resolution suffix and shows the name alone, then truncates the name with an ellipsis. On a very small tile it is not drawn at all, because the plate would cover most of what it is labelling.
Taking a screenshot of one output
A screenshot button appears on the same hover and saves a full-resolution capture of that output — not the scaled-down preview. It is the same capture as the Output Inspector's Test & Debug > Save screenshot, which was previously the only way to reach it.
The button is offered only on tiles with room to draw it, and only for outputs whose slot is connected. A tile without one is not broken — it is either too small, or its output has nothing connected to capture.
Common Mistakes
-
Frame rate drops during a show — the output view is open. Everything routed is being rendered twice.
-
An output is missing from the window — only routed outputs appear. An output with nothing routed to it has no image to preview.
-
Judging image quality from the preview — it is a scaled-down copy. Blend seams and banding have to be assessed on the output itself.
-
No label or screenshot button on hover — the tile is too small. Enlarge the window, or reduce how many outputs are routed, and both reappear.
