Video: Combining Multiple Outputs to One - Mosaic
Steps
A mosaic joins several GPU outputs into one logical display. Four UHD outputs in a 2×2 become a single 7680×4320 surface; two side by side become 7680×2160. Everything downstream — Windows, Backstage — then sees one large display instead of several separate ones.
Before you start

Only outputs with the same EDID can be combined. Sort out EDID emulation first; mismatched timings cannot be grouped.

Know the physical arrangement of the displays. The order in which you tick them is what places them in the grid.

Sign in as Admin. The GPU section is admin-only.

The outputs will drop and re-sync while the grid is created. Not a show-time operation.
1. Open the Mosaic page
In the Hub, select the server and click System Management, then Configure → GPU.
Choose the Mosaic tab. The page has two halves: Active mosaic grids at the top, listing what already exists, and Create a grid below it.
2. Pick the grid shape
Grid (columns × rows) offers only the shapes that fit the displays currently free — with four matching outputs available you get 2 × 2, 4 × 1, 2 × 1 and so on. Mode sits beside it, defaulting to Max Performance.
If the shape you want is not offered, the displays are the reason. The list is built from the free outputs that share an EDID — so a missing 2 × 2 means fewer than four matching outputs are available, not that the grid is unsupported.
3. Tick the outputs — order matters
Below the grid selector, tick the displays that will make up the grid. The page states the rule plainly: tick them in row-major order — left to right, top to bottom — and the number ticked must equal columns × rows.
The ticking order is the layout. This is the one step with no visual feedback to correct you — tick the outputs in the wrong sequence and the grid is built with the panels transposed. The image will be spread across the wall in the wrong order, which looks like a cabling fault and is not one. Work out which physical panel each output feeds before you start clicking.
4. Create the grid and wait
Click Create grid. A confirmation states the cost before committing — for two displays, about 34 seconds — and asks you to leave the page open until it finishes.
Applying a mosaic to the GPU genuinely takes a while, and the outputs drop while it happens. Be patient rather than clicking again.
The finished grid appears under Active mosaic grids with its combined resolution and the outputs it consumed — Grid 1: 2x1 · 7680x2160@60Hz — and a Clear button to undo just that grid.
5. Build further grids if you need them
One server can carry several mosaics. The outputs consumed by the first grid drop out of the free list, and the remaining ones can be grouped into a second.
Multi-GPU servers are the exception: put every output into a single mosaic grid. Do not build one grid per GPU. Backstage then splits that single grid back into separate outputs in software. This is the opposite of what seems natural, and getting it wrong on a multi-GPU machine is not obvious until content is on the wall.
Done when
Active mosaic grids lists each grid with the resolution you expected and the right outputs under it, and the displays show one continuous image rather than repeated or transposed sections.
Clear removes one grid; Clear all grids returns every output to standing alone.
