Video: Build a Panoramic Projection with the Wizard

The Projection Setup Wizard builds a whole multi-projector rig in one step: the screen surface, and one projector per count, evenly distributed and already aimed. You supply the geometry — screen size, projector count, throw ratio — and it does the placement, so you never position a projector by hand.

Before you start

  • Your screen's dimensions in metres — width and height for a flat panorama, diameter and height for a cylinder

  • How many projectors cover it

  • The projectors' throw ratio and lens shift, from the data sheet, and their distance to the screen

1. Open the wizard

In Scene Objects, click +, then hover Projection Setup Wizard. Two entries open: Panorama for a flat screen, Curved for a cylindrical one. The video takes Panorama.

Curved replaces the two screen fields with Diameter, Height, Opening Angle and Screen Rotation. The projector fields below are identical, so everything from step 3 on reads the same.

2. Configure the screen

Set Screen Width and Screen Height, in metres, to match the real screen.

3. Set the projector count

Projector Count is how many projectors cover the screen — up to 20.

4. Enter the projector geometry

Fill in Distance, Throw Ratio, Aspect Ratio, Lens Shift, Tilt and Rotate from the data sheet and the rig. These describe one projector; the wizard applies them to all of them.

Spacing and aim are computed, not entered. That is the whole value of the wizard — it fans the projectors across the screen and points each one, from the numbers above.

5. Create the setup

Click Create.

There it is — a scene group holding the surface and every projector, evenly distributed and aimed.

6. Route the projectors to outputs

Open Video Routing and click the cell where each projector's row meets its GPU output.

The wizard builds scene objects only. Nothing reaches a screen until each projector is routed.

7. Move the real projectors onto the grid

If your parameters match the projection study, the projected grid now shows where each projector would land from its ideal position. Move and lens-shift the physical projectors until they line up with that grid.

Time spent here is time saved later. The closer the real rig sits to the computed one, the less manual warping is left to do — and manual warping is the slow part of the job.

8. Put content on it

Drag your content onto the surface. It is distributed across every projector automatically, according to how each one looks at the surface.

Got a parameter wrong? Do not rebuild. Select the group the wizard created and open its Projection Setup section in the Inspector. It holds the same values — a Screen block and a Projectors block with Count, Distance, Throw Ratio, Aspect Ratio, Lens Shift, Tilt and Rotate — and every change applies to all objects in the group at once, live. Changing Count rebuilds the set of projectors; everything else just moves them.

Done when

Every projector in the group is routed to its own output, each one lights its share of the screen, and the content spans the surface across all of them.
