Lookup material rather than instructions. Use this section when you already know what you are looking for and want the detail on it — what a control does, what a pin carries, what a command expects, what a format supports.

If you are trying to do something rather than look something up, Workflow is the way in.

Reference

Use it when

Interface

You are looking at a window and want to know what a particular control, field or column does — every window documented control by control.

Node Reference

You are building a graph and need to know what a node does and what each of its pins carries.

Show-Control Protocol

Something outside Backstage has to drive the show and you need the command set it speaks.

Supported Formats and Hardware

You need to know whether a codec, container or piece of hardware is supported before committing to it.

Check the format list before a job, not during one. Which codecs and containers actually decode is the difference between media that plays and media that has to be re-encoded on site — and the answer is not always the one the file extension suggests.
